Latgales zoo is a small tropical oasis in rough Latvian climat. Here you can see different tropical animals, reptile and fishes. Latgales zoo is a sort of home for exotic creatures that once were privately owned, but they owner did not want or were to able to keep them anymore.

Here you can see piranha that was oddly enough cough in Daugauvpils Prohovkas pond. The fish has heroically sustained life in inappropriate climat, catching a hook, living in a bucket before it was delivered to the zoo aquarium.

Latgales zoo organizes educational events. Groups of pupils can attend here thematic excursions: “Protected animals”, “Monkeys”, “Reptiles” and others, as well as thematic lessons in natural sciences, biology and ecology. Thematic excursions and lectures are organized also for students.
